HTML Coding

Well I know that this isn't really apart of this weeks blogs exercises, however, I would still like to discuss it anyway. I have been exploring HTML coding today and I have found that it is very easy to pick up. Of course at the moment I am just doing basic codes but still I have success and I am actually enjoying more than creating a site through software like blogger. With having a mac I actually had to get some software for it because I have iweb which is I guess like dreamweaver, but I couldn't find a way to be able to type in the codes. So I found a trial software specifically for Macs called Taco which allows me to edit HTML.

I haven't done that much to it at the moment as I am still sourcing out what to do with it as well as doing all of this other work as well. I have two pages that have some links to it. I have learnt how to change background colour and Text colour. And create links throughout the page which allows you to go to certain sections of the document.

I do believe that HTML codes is a very useful skill to have and I hope to one day be confident in using it. With the site that I am creating I hope to make it like reference site for HTML codes so that we have all the information there to check up on.

I hope to publish it one day but I am no means to far up to that yet and haven't learnt how to do it either. As anyone else had a chance to have a look at it? If so what do you think about it?

Candy.

  1. Hey Candy,

I enjoyed using html too. I've heard about HTML but until the tutorial last week I didn't really understand what it was all about or why I'd read someone say (I think it was Tim O'Reilly) that blogging was HTML for the masses.

Personally I still think it's easier to use blogger than type in the code, but it is good to know how it works and exciting to see the finished page once you've done the coding. I have no idea about publication either but I suppose that's one of the things we'll learn in the coming weeks.

  2. Hi Candy,

Well done on your exploration of HTML codes. A website published as a go-to reference for it sounds like a God-send for computing students like us! I was also interested in what HTML actually was, after hearing about it 'out of context' for so long - like Cath has. The tute has gone a long way into de-mystifying the process, but there is so much to learn! I am even considering (in the future, when we have more time) teaching myself web-design. There are so many doors that this kind of knowledge can open.
